FIRECOMMS
CTO TO DISCUSS DEVELOPMENTS IN HOME GATEWAY TECHNOLOGY
AT THE CONNECTED HOME 2007 CONFERENCE
Cork, Ireland — February
26, 2007 — Firecomms CTO, John Lambkin, has
been selected to participate in a panel discussion of the
growing importance of the broadband gateway at The Connected
Home conference (www.the-connected-home.co.uk) on March 5
in London. As Firecomms leads the development of fiber optic
technologies for home gateways, Lambkin has been tapped to
discuss developments in broadband gateway technologies.
In
conjunction with this discussion, Firecomms will present
OptoLock™, the company’s new Fast Ethernet
Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) port that provides instant
termination of bare POF on stand 164 of the Connected Home/IPTV
World Forum exhibit in London on March 5 through 6, and
at the IPTV 2007 Technology Conference in San Jose on February
27. OptoLock, which incorporates
Firecomms Fast Ethernet transceivers, significantly quickens
and simplifies the connection of devices in communications
and infotainment networks.
About
Firecomms Ltd.
Firecomms, a compound semiconductor company,
develops high-speed light sources in visible range wavelengths.
Firecomms' lasers and LEDs provide the
groundwork that will revolutionize optical data communications
for small area networks, such as in-car networks and home
networks. Firecomms' low power visible lasers unleash
the potential for advances in medical devices, barcode
scanners, and optical storage devices.
The Ireland-based
company leverages its ten years of photonics research experience,
optical expertise, and extensive IP portfolio to develop
cost-effective solutions for applications in which the
use of glass fiber optics is prohibitively expensive. Additional
